North Wind

The shipyard known as Industrial North Wind was established in 1973 in Sant Andreu de la Barcelona and has built over 380 units in a span of 20 years. Currently, there are more than 500 North Wind boats sailing across the globe. Over the course of its history, North Wind has recruited the most skilled workers from other Catalan shipbuilders, such as Astilleros Viudes, who have joined the company, making it one of the most prestigious companies in the sailing industry.

In 2004, Monty North was created through a merger with Monty Nautic, a Catalan company that focuses on building and repairing large yachts. The company, which includes North Wind, offers a wide range of services such as comprehensive drydock, boat repair, boat building, and yacht brokerage.

North Wind exports the majority of its production to the EU and the USA and has offices in Italy, the UK, and the USA. It is a Spanish share capital shipyard that is renowned globally for its high standard shipbuilding, which results in excellent sailing performance yachts.

The shipyard is primarily known for building sailboats ranging from 13 to 20 meters in length, but it also constructs custom motorboats in fiberglass or aluminium ranging from 20 to 45 metres in length. The dockyard offers one of the most comprehensive drydock services in the Mediterranean, including boat repairs, refits, and complete refurbishing of yachts and megayachts. North Wind has built boats such as Mata Mua, Santa Fe, and Silver Romance, with its premises comprising over 10,000 square metres in the port of Barcelona.

North Wind currently offers seven models in its sailboat range, with the most recent addition being the 54-foot K-2, a retractable keel sloop. On average, the shipyard produces 6 to 10 units a year.

North Wind is now one of the primary European shipbuilders, combining the latest shipbuilding technologies, such as resin vacuum infusion and sandwich construction, with traditional handcrafting in cabinetwork and boat finishing.

Renowned naval architects, such as Sparkman & Stephens and the Spanish firm Nautatec, with Manuel Ruiz de Elvira and Manolo López at the helm, work with North Wind. The staff are trained in state-of-the-art technologies, which can be observed in the company's end products.
