Frans Maas and Standfast are two names that are inextricably linked to the Dutch sailing world. Frans Maas started his career as a yacht designer in the 1950s and was known for her elegant designs and very high quality. In 1970 he founded his own shipyard in Breskens, where he could build his own designs. The yard grew into an important player in the international sailing world, with customers all over the world.

A number of iconic sailing yachts have been built by Frans Maas and Standfast. A well-known example is the 'Standfast 43', a sailing yacht that stands out for its striking design and excellent sailing characteristics. The 'Standfast 40' and 'Standfast 56' are also successful designs that are still appreciated by sailing enthusiasts. Other well-known designs are the 'Maas 38', 'Maas 50' and 'Maas 66'.

Unfortunately, the Frans Maas Shipyard went bankrupt in 1993 and then restarted under the name Standfast. Standfast also closed her doors in 2008. Many of the sailing yachts built by the yard are still appreciated for their elegant design, excellent sailing characteristics and high quality.

Although the yard in Breskens no longer operates under the names Frans Maas and Standfast, the legacy of these two iconic names in the Dutch sailing world is still cherished. The designs of Frans Maas and the fast sailing yachts of Standfast have left an indelible impression and continue to inspire sailing enthusiasts.
